Sunways – A Character Shack by the Water

Built in 1925, Sunways is a charming coastal retreat just a stone’s throw from the riverside and five minutes from Millingtons Beach. This oil board shack captures daylight from every compass point, with spacious rooms that have held their character for almost a century.

Thoughtfully renovated – While brimming with nearly 100 years of history, Sunways has been carefully  renovated to enhance comfort while preserving its soul. From the new kitchen that flows into open-plan living and dining, to the refreshed bathroom and light-filled bedrooms, the house now blends original charm with modern ease. 

Space to unwind – Sunways comfortably sleeps 4 guests across 2 spacious queen bedrooms, each with inviting upholstered sofas and soft linen curtains that move with the ocean and river breezes. 

Soothing comforts – The fresh bathroom features an overhead rain shower, freestanding bath, and toilet. We provide Salus body wash, shampoo, and conditioner, along with generously soft towels to wrap yourself in.

Kitchen & dining – The well-equipped kitchen has all you need for extended stays: fridge, kettle, coffee machine, teapot, electric oven, stovetop, and dishwasher. A complimentary pantry of muesli, pasta, olive oil, salt, pepper, sugar, teas, and ground coffee is provided. Local shops and cafés, including the Orford Riverside Café, are just a short walk away for provisions or ready-made meals.

Comfortable living – Choose your spot to unwind: the sun-drenched window seat in the quiet sunroom, the inviting sofas in the lounge, or gather around the stone-topped kitchen island and dining table. A Samsung Frame TV is also provided for those who want to switch off with a film.

Outdoors – The fully enclosed backyard is private and perfect for alfresco dining around the 6-seater outdoor setting. A complimentary bottle of Bellebonne sparkling wine awaits your arrival, best enjoyed as the evening light fades. The external laundry offers a washer, dryer, and detergent for guest use.

Dog-friendly stays – We welcome dogs (with a few respectful house rules). Please bring your own dog bedding and towels, keep dogs off the furniture and beds, and clean up after them. Dogs may sleep in the laundry if needed. An additional cleaning fee may apply if extra pet cleaning is required.
